Arrest History in Deschutes County
The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Bend Police Department, Redmond Police Department, Sisters law enforcement through DCSO, Oregon State Police, and other authorized agencies can make local arrests. The Adult Jail accepts people from those agencies and creates the county booking entry. The arresting agency, not the jail, remains the source for the narrative report that explains the officer's actions and alleged probable cause.
One arrest can therefore produce four distinct records: an agency report, a jail booking and custody entry, a fingerprint-supported OSP CJIS cycle for a reportable offense, and a prosecutor or court case if charges proceed. Each answers a separate question. Initial charges state alleged conduct at the time of arrest. They may change after prosecutor review, amendment, plea, dismissal, or trial.

The DCSO current inmate list is continuously updated and confirms current county custody, inmate name, and offense information. It is the fastest official starting point for a recent arrest. An empty result proves little about arrest history. A person may have been released, transferred, cited without a jail booking, booked under a spelling the reader did not try, or moved to state custody. The roster is not a historical booking archive. DCSO also warns that people are presumed innocent and that roster data must not be used to injure, harass, or commit crime.
How to Look Up Deschutes County Arrests
Begin with the record that fits the time and question. Use the roster for current custody, the arresting agency for its report, the court for filed charges, and OSP for a defined statewide history product. A very recent booking may appear before the court index receives a case.

What an Arrest Record Shows
An agency report is richer than the public roster. It may identify the event, location, arrest time, agency, alleged facts, warrants, transport, and initial charges, though public copies can redact personal data. Jail intake adds custody and processing details. Some fields remain restricted, and the static official roster inspection did not verify detailed demographics, housing units, photographs, booking numbers, or per-charge security as public roster fields.

Deschutes County Arrest Fingerprint Flow

The DCSO roster reflects current county custody rather than every recent booking. It updates continuously, and a release causes the live custody picture to change. The Adult Jail holds new bookings, pretrial detainees, people awaiting release, and locally sentenced or otherwise authorized custody categories. A sentenced person transferred to Oregon DOC no longer belongs in the county roster and should be sought through state tools. Absence from the list does not show dismissal, acquittal, or that no arrest occurred.

Arrests vs Convictions
An arrest record documents custody based on alleged probable cause. A conviction record documents a court's finding of guilt after a plea or verdict. Different offices create them, and either can exist without the other in the form a reader expects. Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt, and many alleged charges are never filed or end without conviction.
Deschutes County Arrest Photo Release Rule
DCSO takes a photograph during booking, but Oregon law does not make it an automatic public gallery image. The Sheriff's Office identifies booking photos as exempt until conviction under ORS 133.870. That rule explains why a current roster or released report may omit a photograph even though the jail created one.
Other limits also apply. Active investigations, medical facts, juvenile material, victim-sensitive information, and protected identifiers can be withheld or redacted. The correct response to a missing image is to read the official custody and court sources, not substitute an unofficial mugshot or people-search service.
Deschutes County Arrest Report Requests
The Records Unit reviews and releases sheriff-created reports. A police-report copy costs $20 for the first eight pages and $1 for each later page. Other work is charged at estimated staff cost under ORS 192.324(4)(a). Estimates must be prepaid, with added actual cost due before release and overpayments refunded. Paid research that finds no responsive record or an exempt record does not promise a refund.
The office asks requesters to allow up to 21 days, and large or complex requests may take longer. A compliant county request must be acknowledged within five business days. Give the event date, time, location, involved names, and report number when known. Convictions and filed pleadings go to Circuit Court instead.

Deschutes County Warrant Arrest Route
No comprehensive public DCSO warrant database was verified. DCSO tells a person who thinks they are wanted to report to the Adult Jail rather than call for a warrant check. From 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., use the jail lobby; after hours, use the front Inmate Services door. Staff run the records check. If a warrant exists, the person is taken into custody; otherwise, the person may leave.
